Yes freight can the killer in a purchase when you live in NZ. We are a long way from anywhere and that stretch of water swallows a lot of fuel to cross whether by water or air, especially if one buys an item in America. Even small parts cost heaps. I had a steering wheel made for a car I am building, the wheel cost $1200 and the freight out of L.A. was between 3 and 400 more. If you live out of the states it costs as much to get it across the U.S. as it does to cross the water. However, if you want it you gotta pay for it!!!
Speaking of which I just had a call to say the carb parts have arrived at Bailey Motorcycles from Australia. It is only 3 days since I ordered them. Terrific service, best I get my act together and pick them up. Just the cam belts to get now woohoo!!! :woohoo:

2800 quid for a Nordie with nasty plastics, non-standard paint? Hmmm.....

Good to hear you're getting the parts together swiftly, and if our weather is anything to go by up here in Doomshire I'll be firing my old beast up this weekend as it looks like winter has buggered in the off direction.........

Yes, I thought it was expensive, not a nice one either. Good to hear the weather is turning for you but I quess that means ours will turn the other way. :(

On a brighter side I spoke to Bob Wright this morning before I left for work and he has two cam belts for me and they will be posted tomorrow.

I picked up the needle valve yesterday so I am acumulating the bits. Next will be the Nordwest sprag clutch, hopefully an easy fix.

Do have a look inside the old Sprag clutch everyone I opened the garter spring was like shrivelled up nicker elastic  and is replaceable
Cheers

12 degrees C, wow that is winter here, sorry, that isn't gloating.
when I do the cambelt I will dive head first in to the sprag area. I am hoping you are right and it hasn't bashed itself to death. I don't remember the mileage but around 30,000k however, a majority of that has been the commute other that the original owners U.K. and Europe adventure.
I saw a YouTube clip on a repair to a KTM dirt bike which gave part numbers for seal springs as a replacement garter spring so I will recheck that when I see a cambelt.
Oh, I can't wait, I haven't been this excited since Santa was due in one more sleep!!!

Well, great news for me, the courier delivered two cam belts from Bob Wright Motorcycles 2 days ago. UK to New Zealand about a week and a half travelling give or take a couple of days.

As I am working nights currently I haven't installed them yet but lookout on my days off!!! They have date markings on them of 2012 but I am sure that won't be a problem. I will make a flywheel puller when I wake tomorrow afternoon and dive deep in to the Nordwest first so I can attack the spragg clutch at the same time. The RC won't be far behind. I am just itching to ride them both.

The weather here is about to turn nasty for a short while, a tropical storm brewing apparently. That will mean shed time at least.

Once I have them on the road I will post a couple of photos if anyone is interested.
