Having made the pump body you could continue and make the impeller to complete the pump to remain standard, I remember seeing this done in the German club website,
If you go electric remember it will be a constant load on your charging system and will pump the same amount of water around if you are going slowly or quickly, for a race engine this is good as you are not going slowly and you will have a little more free power as the engine is not driving the pump.
