I would like to know how you get on with the electric pump, as I said before they work very well in race engines where the needs are a little different to stop/start normal road conditions.
The electric pump has to deliver enough flow to cope with full throttle conditions, will have a constant electrical demand from the charging system and is most probably a little heavier than the belt driven pump.
As you had made a bearing housing, shaft and pulley, it would probably be easier to make an impeller to complete the pump
