That might have been the problem, particularly if the timing was retarded.
Was the stator right at the end of the mounting slots?

I know the securing screws are a bit awkward to get at but I hope you have made sure the screws are good and tight.

Fingers and toes crossed here.

My GFR has just one mark on the stator slot at about 1 o'clock which has to line up with a mark on the crankcase. Hopefully any other marks you have are not on that slot and can be ignored.

Walking aroun my factory with toes crossed is not a joke, workers kep coming up offering sympathy and asking if I would like to sit down and rest.
Bugger it I'm going back to just crossing fingers and then only with my hands in pockets, then the workers only think I'm oplaying with myself :woohoo:

Ok so i had a friend come round on friday to look at the bike. Was there for a few hours and after trying and trying i went and put the plug from the crono in (br8es) and instantly it fired up (refief). So i rode it to the new house without brakes (will come to this in a min). Today i fitted the headlight and went to ride it to the parking space and it died after 20 seconds. I now have oil on the tip of the plug. Does this mean the rings have gone? Would the top end from the crono fit as i know its ok. On to the brakes. Have tried to bleed them but am having no joy, is there a certain way to bleed gileras? Am thinking of taking it to a garage for them to check it out. Any info here would be a big help.
